Choosing Home Air Purifiers
You clean your home to make it look spic and span but did you know the air inside a typical home is most likely up to five times dirtier than the air outside? There was a study that established this fact and the problem is that a lot of the pollution in th air in our homes is too small to be seen with the naked eye, but it is floating in the air as we speak. It is because of these microscopic contaminants in the air that people like us are choosing home air purifiers to cleanse and purify the air in our homes.
When we talk about air purifiers we are talking about many different types of air cleaning system. Some of the most common and widely available types include HEPA, ionic, and UV and I’ll give you a brief guide to the different types of air purifier.
The most well know is probably HEPA which we are familiar with on vacuum cleaners. HEPA is not a brand name. It in an acronym that stands for High Energy Particulate Arrestance (The A can also stand for Air or Absorbing.) For an air purifier to be allowed to bear the HEPA acronym and be called a HEPA air purifier, it must be able to remove 99.97% of particles that are 0.3 micrometers in size. To get an idea of how small this is, think of a particle 300 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. There are lots of HEPA air purifiers that you can purchase to cleanse the air in your home. Some of them use disposable filters, while others use filters that you wash and replace.
Ionic air purifiers work by changing the nature of the particles in the air by giving off negative Ions which are atracted to the airborne particles and then give them a negative ionic charge. Once they have been negatively charges these particles become too heavy to float in the air and fall down to the ground. You can either vacuum or dust them away, or you can choose an ionic air purifier that traps the particles and gets rid of them within the machine. One of the most popular ionic purifiers out there today is the Ionic Breeze.
UV: UV air purifiers use ultraviolet light to destroy microscopic particles such as dust, dander, mites, smoke particles, bacteria, mold and more. These are probably the newest and most advanced types of home air purifiers available today. Basically, air is drawn into the air purifier and sanitized with the ultraviolet light, then circulated back into the room.
There are a lot of different manufacturers producing home air purifiers and they are becomming more common to see in regular stores. Brand names like Oreck can be purchased online or locally and you will find a good selection of different types and styles of home air purifiers for sale on various websites. Whichever machine you buy purchasing a home air purifier is a smart decision that provides cleaner air and may mean better health for you and your family.
